Build bridge to Chorao: Ad hoc panel [Goa]

PANAJI: The public works department (PWD) should construct a bridge to link Chorao to Penha da Franca on priority, an ad hoc committee on public works recommended in its report recently.
The panel recommended that the PWD complete the work within a stipulated time frame. Meanwhile, the department assured that mandatory works like maintenance projects which are likely to inconvenience people are usually taken up for speedy completion.
Around a decade back, the state government had engaged a consultant to identify a site for the construction of a bridge to connect the island of Chorao to the mainland. Out of the five sites shortlisted for the purpose, an area near Salvador do Mundo was found to be most suitable for the project.
